Hi everyone!
This is it! This is the last home stretch, and crunch time for getting everything ready for Final Presentation Night. We still have so much to do, but I am also really excited to have it come up so I can present what I have learned this far and show that I am not just all talk and no game. I have worked so hard and for so long in my ISM research and study and I really want to be able to talk to you all about what I have been able to achieve.
Through my research interviews, my evidence's of learning, research assessments, speeches and mentor visits, I have been able to attain so much knowledge about my field of graphic design and life in general. ISM has taught me to jump in head first and to not be scared because the sooner you can overcome a fear, the quicker you can gain confidence and skill in that aspect. For example public speaking. In the beginning of ISM I remember we had to do an 3-5 minute speech just simply explaining why we took ISM and why we chose the field we did. And I cannot explain to you how terrified I was to give that speech. It was the first speech I had ever given in my entire life and I was white in the face and shaking. Public speaking (and just talking to others in genera) had never been my forte, however once I finally did that speech, I was able to slow overcome my fear of public speaking.
Even now, I still wouldn't say I like to give speeches, however I am not afraid to give one now, because I know that practice makes progress and that with each speech I do, I know I am getting better.
Furthermore ISM has given me the opportunity to do things I never thought I would be able to do at the age of 17. I mean meeting with 5 graphic designers, and interviewing them about their career and experiences, as well as developing a website to help the future students in Frisco ISD? I mean, I never in a million years would've thought I could achieve this. And a big part of how I achieved that is because of all of you. Each and every one of you have given me the amount of support I need to carry me and push me to become the person I am today. So, thank you for allowing me to become someone I am proud of.
