Hi everyone!
So this past week has been the best and most stressful week ever. So this past wednesday, my AP 2D Design Art Class went to Dallas, to see the Nasher Sculpture Center, The Warehouse Private Museum, The Dallas Museum of Art and to the chase building for photography on the sky lobby.
And oh my god, that was the best experience of my life. Im sure many of you have at least went to an art museum once in your life, with the thought that you would have an amazing time, but when you got there found it to be very boring and kind of confusing as to why some pieces are considered art. And i'll be completely honest that is what happened a lot of the time when I went to museums, however this trip opened my eyes to how I perceive art, especially those in museums.
It more about puzzles than anything. This was made evident when we visited The Warehouse, (which is exclusive to schools only) and the tour guide there explained each piece to us, and helped us realize what went in to each piece, and what the artist was thinking about when they created it. It helped me gain a whole new level of appreciation towards art and how I view it.
There was one piece that most of us art kids there were really confused about. It was a video of sorts that only showed captions to an audio track of what seemed to be a comedian doing stand up comedy, however it contained very vulgar, racially offensive, and very crude humor. It made a lot of people very offended and angry and none of us new how it ended up in an exclusive art museum with so many other amazing pieces. But the guide explained to us that it was the fact that we were angry, confused and insulted which made this piece so great. The artist did his job in communicating the point that saying vulgar things about people is not okay, and should never be seen as funny.
You have to dig deep and analyze art to really grasp the full purpose of it, and how it is so much bigger than just what is seen at first glance.

In ISM matters,
we have begun to prepare for Final Presentation Night, and I have never been so stressed out in my life. There are literally hundreds of things to do in a little less than a month and I'll be honest, I'm freaking out. I have FPN, ISM coursework, Regular course work, actual paid work and i still have to make time to eat and sleep and function as a human, and I don't have time for all of it.
It's crunch time, and I have got to find a way to get this all done and done well. So it's go time.
