Welcome back everyone!
So this past week has been spring break for us, so that is why this post is coming so late. Over spring break I went on a college visit to UNT (University of North Texas), which is #2 on my list of colleges I want to go to. University of Texas at Austin is my #1, and we are going to tour that college on April 1st, however I have a pretty good feeling UNT is where I'll be going.
UT Austin is my ultimate goal, but they only accept a few handfuls from each school, and because my field is going to be an art major its pretty unlikely they will accept me, but I'm still optimistic!
UNT however, was pretty amazing. The first part of the college visit we went on a walking campus tour where we saw what dorms I would be in, what the city of Denton is like and just the basics of where everything is around the campus. This although seems really boring, was very informative and useful if I plan on going there, so I won't be lost my first day of school.
Moreover, on the second part of the tour, we walked around the CVAD
(College of Visual Arts and Design) section of UNT. This was my personal favorite part. There was a sort of character to the school, like as if you knew on first impression of the school that it was something that had a backstory and a long run of success. And although the building was old, and the seat had holes in them and it wasn't exactly "pristine" and "perfect", it seemed like they were doing extremely well. I don't think an art school can be orderly or perfect for that matter, its supposed to be worn down and messy cause it shows the history of the campus.
In addition, we were showed the different section of the CVAD center where the communication design classes and technology rooms where and I think I might have shed a tear from seeing how big those printers where. (And they had the adobe creative cloud already installed to over 100 Macintosh Computers!) I honestly could have stayed in there for the rest of my life and I would have been perfectly fine.
So in summary, I think UNT is an amazing school and I could definitely see myself going there in the future, and with the UT Austin visit coming up to it has really opened my eyes to actually how close senior year is and how close I am to being on my own. It is a very scary thing, but I am more than ready to take on the challenge!
