Hey Everyone!
So this past week has been pretty slow. (Thank goodness) It was nice to finally take a break after non-stop work for the past six weeks. We mainly watched and listened to the remaining Original Work Speeches and worked on our final product outside of school.
I do want to mention that everyone did a fantastic job on their speeches and I can truly see an improvement of public speaking in everyone. Even for myself, I know I absolutely hated speaking in front of a crowd at the beginning of the year, and although I still might not love it, I seem to have grown an appreciation for it. Getting in from of the entire class and having to give a speech 15+ min, can be extremely scary and it takes a lot of courage to do so. However, getting myself out of that comfort zone and pushing myself to do it has made me realize that challenges can be enormously beneficial. They allow you to grow and achieve things you never thought possible. And so I really do want to take a moment and thank Mr. Wysong and my classmates for pushing me and challenging me to do things I never would have done before. I think I have gained a better understanding of my skills and limits and what I need to do to build upon it.
With that said, I will jump off my soapbox. The other thing I would like to mention is my progress in my final product. Like I have mentioned before, we had decided on the "schooled" logo with the glasses and all, however after reevaluation of the logo we decided that coming up with some new ideas may be helpful. Now to you, it may seem like a minor thing to do, but as designers this is very important. Often times, designers get very attached to their work and find it hard to go back to square one when one of their ideas gets turned down, but being open minded and knowing that sometimes you need to go back and get some new ideas and perspectives is a good thing. It can lead to a better, more impactful design that you might not have seen beforehand.
