Hello!
So in ISM this past week we have really been preparing for Research Showcase. We have started conducting mock interviews again and practicing answering questions that people might have for us and our work. One thing I have noticed about myself and maybe a few other people who think like me as well, is that I do best when I don't prepare. And I don't mean this in a "I just showed up here, what are we doing," kind of way but more of when I don't rehearse what I am going to say word for word kind of way.
And I think that learning that about myself really helped me with my speeches, interviews, and just basic socialization. I used to have the hardest time talking to people, even more so crowds. So when I conducted my first speech in ISM I bombed it. It was the worst speech I had ever given and it was because I tried to memorize what I was going to say, and it might just be my personality or my way of thinking but every time I try to do something like that, I completely go blank and end up disappointed in myself.
So this time around I know exactly what to do. Prepare but don't over prepare, find a happy medium that will both challenge me but also make me still feel confident.
So with all this in mind, I hope you will all be able to come to Research Showcase which will be held at Heritage High School from 7-8:30pm on Thursday the 17th, and come support all of us ISM kids who have worked extremely hard to get to this point, and we are all very eager to share our findings in the fields that we are so passionate about.
Thank you and have a great day!
