Hi again!
So in ISM this past week, we did our speeches. They were supposed to be 10-12 minutes and about all the research we have drawn from our fields from our interview assessments, research assessments and experiences. I think I made a 100% improvement from my last speech, but there were obviously always things I could work on. Mr. Wysong also gave me some feedback on my speech saying that it would benefit me to slow down and not talk too fast because it could be detrimental to the timing of my speech.
However, when I first heard we where doing a 10-12 minute speech I was petrified. Not about having content in my speech but actually giving the speech in from of the class, including Mr. Wysong. My absolute worst fear is public speaking, and I was turning white just from thinking about presenting my speech.
But what I have noticed about ISM so far, is that is changes you. At the beginning of ISM, when I first walked in the classroom doors I wanted to cry. I didn't know what I had gotten myself into and our first 3-5 minute speech was due the following week. I felt very unprepared and felt undeserving of the class.
But now, within 10 weeks, I feel completely transformed. Not in some weird, "I'm so in touch with my feelings now," kind of way, but more like I feel more prepared an ready to achieve what I set out to do. I think, once you get down to it, ISM allows you to build the very lowest aspects of yourself and allows you to become a whole better person. Wether it be an improvement of skill, knowledge, and/or personality, ISM has allowed me to become someone who feels more confident in my myself, and my field and that is something I'm not sure would have ever happened had it not been for me being in ISM.
So I just wanted to give a big thank you to Mr. Wysong for helping me a long this journey, and the rest of the ISM students as being the best second family to me, and being the most supportive group I could ask for.
